LONDON (AP) -- It was part of an expense claim that outraged taxpayers: A floating duck house, claimed for on the public purse.
Now, the lawmaker who tried in vain to expense the hut -- intended to protect ducks from foxes -- says he will sell it to raise funds for charity.
Sir Peter Viggers told the Portsmouth News he has received several requests to sell the house that cost him 1,645 pounds ($2,650).
Auctioneer Adam Partridge said Tuesday he thought the duck house could fetch "thousands and thousands" because of its new notoriety.
Viggers has said he will not stand for re-election in Britain's next polls.
Ordinary Britons have been outraged by news that lawmakers from all parties claimed excessive expenses.
