JACKSONVILLE, FL -- First Coast Resident John Smith is DTV ready. Smith decided to invest in a new big screen digital television and he's subscribing to a satellite service.

But he says he's noticed the digital switch has some bugs.

"Sometimes when you're watching a movie or the news, the picture will break up in the middle of it," says Smith.

It is called pixilation and it happens when the digital signal is weak or becomes interrupted. Even so, after watching his digital tv with its digital picture, he's not ready to go back to an analog tv.

"The pro is the sharp picture and the sound. The con is the picture break up which sometimes could last 30 minutes," says Smith.

The switch was mandated by congress, and the viewer likely to be affected the most is the person who receives their picture from over the air.

They may need a converter box to become DTV ready. The FCC is offering a $40 coupon to assist in the purchase.
