JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Jacksonville's WJCT, the public broadcasting station, has already made the switch to digital television.
"We are now broadcasting 5 channels every day," says Bob Culkeen.
Culkeen is Vice President of Technology and Operations for WJCT.
"When we turned off our analog signal, we were getting a lot of calls from viewers asking 'what have you done,'" says Culkeen.
Culkeen said most of the viewers had a converter box, but it was not properly installed.
So here are the basic steps:
Step One: Connect the antenna cable to the "Antenna In" on the converter box.
Step Two: Connect the cable from the "TV Out" on the converter box to the "Antenna In" on the television set.
Step Three: Turn the converter box on until the green light is on and scan for channels.
Step Four: Go into the menu and turn off the timer; many of the boxes come programmed with the timer on.
Step Five: Use the menu to measure the antenna reception strength.
Step Six: Choose the best antenna for your location. You can get help in choosing an antenna at www.antennaweb.org.
