JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL -- A 26-year old woman is facing charges of child neglect after police say she had a 12-year old drive her because she was too drunk.

Police say one of their cruisers was nearly hit over the weekend at the intersection of Second Avenue North and 20th Street North.

The officer pulled the car over to find a 12-year-old behind the wheel.

Shelly Rose Brinkley is the child's nanny. Police determined she was intoxicated and charged her with felony child neglect.

Police also say Brinkley didn't have a driver's license.

It was suspended from a previous drunk driving arrest.
