JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The buzz at Central Riverside Elementary had students cheering to the sound of a hair clippers.
The school's principal and four male teachers agreed to get their hair clipped if students read more than 15,000 books this year.
The students topped that goal by reading 6,000 more books than required.
Tom Darga is a fourth grade teacher who shed his hair as part of the deal.
"This is what it is all about, I mean being a teacher and dealing with elementary kids, video games...even hard to get them to read. So to do things like this, listen to them, cannot beat it," said Darga, who normally does not wear short hair.
The school hasn't decided what it can do next year to a top buzz cut.
