ORANGE PARK, FL -- Wayne and Angie Luke were excited about their new swimming pool.
It is made by Doughboy, and while the pool is made with a metal liner instead of concrete, it is an in-ground pool that meets their budget.
"The pool and the paver deck, the entire thing cost us about $20,000," says Wayne Luke.
But since the pool was built in February, 2008, there has been a recurring problem.
"I don't know if there's a water leak; I don't know why it keeps happening," says Luke.
What keeps happening is dirt under the paver deck gets washed out and the deck caves in.
"The pavers sink some 3-4 feet into the ground," says Luke.
The builder, Workingman's Pool and Spa, has made repairs in the past, but the pool is now out of warranty.
"I can't get anyone to return a phone call," says Angie Luke.
"I just want them to stand behind their work, even if it is out of warranty," says Wayne Luke.
On Your Side contacted Workingman's Pool and Spa. The owner was not available for comment, but the construction foreman Les Vandergriff said he was familiar with the problem.
Vandergriff says, "I will be glad to go and look at the problem, but I'm convinced that the problem is related to water diversion from the roof and not to the construction of the pool."
Vandergriff said all pools come with a one-year warranty and the Luke's problem is beyond the warranty period.
