JACKSONVILLE, FL - Two teenage brothers were arrested Sunday for allegedly breaking into 17 cars.

Almost all of the cars were in the Nature's Forest community in Mandarin.

"It's an excellent place to live with lots of good families and kids and stuff around here," said Bill Powell, who lives in Nature's Forest. "It's nice."

However, Powell got a not-so-nice knock at the door early Sunday morning.

"I was awoken at 4:30 in the morning by JSO to let me know that my wife's car door was open," said Powell

Someone stole a digital camera that was inside the car.

According to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report, the thieves were Vincent Lombardi, 18, and his 15-year-old brother who is a freshman at Mandarin High School.

First Coast News is not releasing his name because he is a minor.

"These young guys feel they have to go out and do this. I don't know if it's just for fun or if they get a kick out of it but it's unfortunate," said Powell.

Powell says one of his neighbors watched the thieves drive up and start peeking around.

The neighbor called police. They were arrested.

According to JSO, they admitted to 17 car burglaries in the Mandarin area.

When the teens were arrested, police say they had several small electronics, a pair of gloves and a 10-pound sledge hammer in the back seat of their car. However, for several of the burglaries, they didn't need it

"The car door was left unlocked," said Powell.

He says burglars stole another camera of his through an unlocked door a few months ago.

"We're definitely going to lock the car doors, now. I don't need to be awoken at four in the morning on a regular basis," said Powell.
