JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Delores Johnson says she was putting 8,10,12 packets of sugar in her coffee.
And, yes, she admits, she was eating sweets for breakfast.
But no more Snickers in the morning! Now, she's converted to Fiber One cereal, she says.
Johnson says she's lost 23 pounds so far and she's feeling great.
Her parents are diabetic and she's watching the serious effects of that.
So she doesn't want to be overweight. And she wants to spare her students from the consequences, as well.
So her team at Andrew Robinson Elementary, The Rovin' Rockets, is out walking around the school grounds every day.
The school can't afford a nice track like some other schools, but that didn't discourage the kids and their teacher from getting fit.
Johnson has even inspired other teachers and the custodial staff to begin FIGHTING THE COUCH.
Hooray for her and Andrew Robinson Elementary.
Wednesday on First Coast News at 6, Jeannie Blaylock will announce the top four teams in FIGHT THE COUCH.
The teams with the most activity minutes will win the grand prizes.
But better health is a priceless prize, and that's the goal for every student in FIGHT THE COUCH.
Teachers, feel free to download an AWARDS CERTIFICATE for all your students participating!
