ST. JOHNS COUNTY, FL -- The Dragons at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine have been keeping track of their activity minutes for weeks now.

The children are deaf, but it doesn't matter. Keeping fit and learning that the couch is a "No Parking" zone is important to all children.

Teacher Bethany Peacock rallied her school family to Fight the Couch.

Click on the video to see how the kids---despite our recent rainy weather---had a blast being active.

It's proof you can raise your heart beat inside.

Ever thought of "Simon Says" as an aerobic activity? Just watch and you'll see it's a good idea for the kids you know, too.

Congrats to the Dragons...and also the kids at Julington Creek Elementary.

They're producing their own "ads" to Fight the Couch and encourage all kids to get active.

Click on the video and you can see some examples of their creativity.

One outstanding idea is to combine reading and running or walking.

The kids know some students love to lie around on the couch and read.

Reading is critical, of course, but they say why not get one of those books on tape and head outside for a nice jog?

Fight the Couch encourages kids of all ages to record activity minutes with their teachers at school.

We will announce the top 4 teams Wednesday, May 27th, on First Coast News at 6.

Teachers, thank you for all your support. Please feel free to download an AWARDS CERTIFICATE for all your Fight the Couch team members.

You can customize the certificates with each child's name.
