JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A retention pond gator surfaced near McCoy Creek Blvd on Friday after being spotted earlier in the week following heavy rains.
Penn Cornell has been keeping his eye out for the gator as he works near the retention pond.
"He's got to be at least 7-8 feet, may be even bigger," said Cornell, who saw the gator spring out of water attempting to latch a crane pecking for fish.
Attempts are being made to trap the gator, who so far has been content to just show his eyes and little more.
