MCLEAN, VA -- She arrived at the driveway of her home on Churchill Road and noticed something strange. A navy blue Eddie Baur Ford Explorer. She realized people were in her home and quickly called police.

Then she blocked the driveway with her car.

Two thieves ran out of her house, and, according to the woman's daughter, they broke down their gate.

The McLean police station is about a mile away. Police were there in minutes and found one of the suspects hiding in some backyard bushes a few doors away.

Other officers chased the second suspect, but he got away.

A massive search began with officers drawing shotguns, a helicopter looking from the air and bloodhounds sniffing on the ground.

Cooper Middle School and Churchill Road Elementary were put in secure status and children had to be picked up in person.

Police are questioning the suspect. The second suspect, who slipped away, is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens. He was wearing a dark windbreaker.

The homeowner's daughter says the thieves got away with some items, such as her phone, but she says, they were attempting to get away with a big screen TV, and other electronic items which were packed up and ready to go.

She also says they believe the thieves broke in through their doggy door.
