COLUMBIA, SC -- Sheriff Leon Lott says the a community tip led the agents to a home on Trader Mill Road. On Saturday, deputies conducted a search warrant and discovered that 29-year-old Andrew R. Angel had been growing marijuana in his home.
Deputies found marijuana, plastic storage containers with the illegal substance inside, as well as hash, which is processed from marijuana. All of these items were found in various areas around the home.
Lott says a total of 83 marijuana plants were found inside with complete lighting system, potting soil and packaging materials to sale the drug.
Lott states that Angel was extremely crafty in his choice of disguising the drugs. Deputies found some of the marijuana was found in the freeze, inside a butter container in the refrigerator as well as marijuana being baked into a brownie load.
Deputies say all of the drugs were seized along with Angel's 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Angel was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was taken to the Richland County Jail, and has since been released.
Sheriff Lott says this arrest would not have been accomplished without the assistances of residents in the Spring Valley West community.
