ATHENS, GA -- A University of Georgia professor who had feuded with fellow faculty member George Zinkhan says he had mapped out a route to her home and was advised by authorities to consider going into hiding.
Zinkhan, who authorities say shot his wife and two other people to death on April 25, was found dead not far from his home on Saturday.
Police had located his Jeep a week earlier, and Oconee County authorities say they found evidence that Zinkhan had used a computer to map a route to the home of associate marketing professor Barbara Carroll.
Chief Deputy Lee Weems said on Monday that Oconee County sheriff's officials met with Carroll at the FBI's request and "suggested maybe she'd be better off going elsewhere." He said Zinkhan had looked up directions to her house the day before the killings.
