JACKSONVILLE, FL -- It is a new twist on an old concept. A Happy Hour Social at the Twisted Martini to match job seekers with potential employers.
The idea has been done in other major U.S. cities and was brought to the Jacksonville Landing Thursday night by job seeker and local entrepreneur Carlos Gil.
"The idea is simple," said Gil, who founded the website jobsdirectusa.com after himself being laid off from financial giant A.I.G.
"We have job seekers wear pink wristbands and job providers wear blue wristbands."
The idea is to allow both sides of the new job equation to meet in a comfortable, fun, relaxed environment.
The event runs through 7 p.m. at the Jacksonville Landing.
