JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called out to a Southside shopping center Wednesday morning for an emergency.

Police say a young, Hispanic man had collapsed and died in the parking lot.

When First Coast News got to the scene, we found several JSO officers wearing masks.

There were also two other men wearing them too. First Coast News has learned those two men were with the victim.

Police would not officially talk on camera about why they decided to wear the gear, but officers on the scene did tell us in light of the current situation, they chose to wear the masks as a precaution.

Witnesses told our Hispanic newspaper partner, Hola Noticias, the man who died was sick and recently had been to the hospital.

When he did not get the help he needed, those witnesses say, the man headed to a natural healing store in the complex. The store is closed.

Those witnesses say the man had a rash on his body.
