BUNNELL, FL -- Despite a downturn in the economy, Flagler County voters approved the Environmentally Sensitive Lands bond referendum back in November by a 65 percent majority.

Melissa Sheets had a lot to do with that.

She's Flagler County's Special Projects Coordinator, and spent some time creating an entire information campaign to make the issue clearer for voters.

Her work was so impressive, Sheets received a handful of awards this week for her efforts.

The awards are:

* An Image Award for her information campaign

* An Image Award for the educational flyer she created

* A Judges Award for maximum results while using a minimum amount of money for a Q and A video

* A Grand Image Award for the Printed Tools of Public Relations Award

* The Grand All Image Award for the Public Relations Programs division.

Whew.

The awards ceremony was Tuesday. The Volusia/Flagler Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association sponsored the event.

The awards were judged by the Association's Dick Pope/Polk County Chapter.

What's next for Sheets?

She plans to enter the Association's Golden Image Awards, which is a statewide contest.

Winners will be announced at the Association's annual conference in Boca Raton.

Way to go Melissa, and good luck!
