JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Michael Fant has a smile on his face right now, but he knows that smile may not last.

"It's tax day," says Fant.

He's waited until the last minute to file.

"I like the pressure. Today's the pressure day, that's why I'm here."

Fant is not alone. The folks at H&R Block say over the last couple of days, they have been extra busy. They are prepared. They've brought in extra staff to cover the night shift.

"Some years we've been here until midnight," says Phyllis deLangis, an H&R Block manager.

Last minute filers are nothing new. Tax pros say they are used to seeing it.

"Every year it's like this. People who think they have a balance due wait until the last minute," deLangis said.

Fant says he's holding out hope. He's got his fingers crossed that he doesn't owe Uncle Sam a cent.

"Fingers and toes. I've got my lucky underwear on too. I'm looking to break even. That's also why I'm here late, because I don't want to write that check."

After a few minutes of checking and re-checking, he learns he's got a refund coming his way.

"The lucky underwear worked, fantastic," he said.

H&R Block says it's office hours typically end at 9 p.m., but they are ready to stay even later to help out those who are filing at the last minute.

The U.S. Postal service says it plans to close its locations at regular hours.
