ORANGE PARK, FL -- Friends and co-workers at the YMCA in Orange Park are mourning the loss of two co-workers.

Inmaculada Pierce, 42, also known as Macu, and Jacqueline Allen, 44, were killed in a boat crash in Palm Valley on Sunday.

The two worked at the YMCA. Those who knew them say they knew something was wrong when they didn't show up for work Monday morning.

"Definitely have a heavy heart. I think the staff here are figuring out how to move on," says YMCA staffer Nikos Westmoreland.

He says when Allen didn't show for her workout class, they started asking questions. "Someone else realized that Macu had been there with her (Allen) on that boat; that's all how it started to unfold."

Allen was the Wellness Director at the YMCA. She also ran a survival camp to help get people into shape.

Pierce helped run the front office and also was a volunteer volleyball coach for young girls.

"With Jakki, I'll miss the drive, determination and the person who wants to see you succeed. With Macu, I'll miss the way she could make you feel when you walked in," says Westmoreland.

The crash killed five people and injured nine others. The victims are from Florida and California.

The owner of the boat, 37-year-old Melvin Bethel, remains hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic in fair condition. Eighteen-year-old Josh Moore, from California, has been released from the Mayo Clinic.

Karey Cavicchioli, Jaimie Hole and Frank Moore are all listed in fair condition at Shands.

Mayo and Shands did not have a record of the other victims.
