
NEW YORK (AP) -- The Dow begins a shortened trading week atop the 8,000 level. The index rose about 40 points Friday to settle at 8,018, capping a fourth straight week of gains. It was up 3.1 percent last week.
The S&P is at 842.50 after a gain of 8 points. And the Nasdaq stands at 1,622 on a rise of 19 points. No major economic data is due out today. There are only four trading sessions this week. The market will be closed for Good Friday.
