LOXLEY, AL -- Days before a Yulee man was arrested for the attempted kidnapping of Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, he was stopped in Alabama during his cross-country trip to try and meet her.
Police say Robert O'Ryan drove to Los Angeles to kidnap Johnson, who is currently a contestant on the show 'Dancing With the Stars.'
Before O'Ryan made it to California, he was pulled over by police in Loxley, Alabama. The entire stop was caught on the officer's dashboard camera.
During the 29-minute stop, O'Ryan mentions Johnson three times and even tells the officer that he planned to go to L.A. to meet her.
When asked if he had ever met her, he replied "only in his dreams."
The officer let him go with only two traffic tickets.
