ORANGE PARK, FL -- It takes a lot more out of pocket these days to fill a bag of groceries, but one Orange Park church is hoping to fill dozens, or even hundreds of bags of food from the heart.
The groceries will be given away to the needy at the conclusion of services this weekend.
"We know that so many people are hurting right now with the economy so our heart was really to just do our part in making a difference in the lives of other people," said Pastor Eric Jaffe of the Journey Church.
All this week the Journey Church is accepting food donations throughout the day and into the evening for a super give-away this weekend.
"Our heart is that as many people would show up as have need and maybe the multiplication of the loaves and fishes will happen!" said Jaffe.
Jaffe says if you would like to help, but you can't make it out to his Blanding Boulevard location to deliver groceries, you can make a monetary donation online.
Pastor Jaffe says every penny will go to buying more groceries, to fill more bags before this weekend's services.
"I think right now we're on track to help 75-to-100 families," said Jaffe. "Our heart would be that we can help as many as possible!"
"At the end of all our services we're going to do the giveaways of the food. If they say that they have a need, we're going to do our best to meet that need!"
The Journey Church is located at 797 Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park. Click here to visit the church's web site.
