JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Chimney Lakes is ready to Fight the Couch!

Teachers there encourage students to run the track and stay active.

But, like at any school, they're up against the lure of video games and bags of Doritos.

The P.E. teachers say in years past only 1-2 kids in the entire school could not pass any section in the President's Physical Fitness test.

Now 12% fail all five parts of the test.

So Chimney Lakes is fired up about our new project, Fight the Couch!

Watch the video and you'll see the cool ideas they're doing.

The contest encourages children of any age to get off the couch and log "activity minutes." Any school on the First Coast is invited.

"Activity minutes" can be anything from chasing your brother around the yard for 30 minutes to running the court at basketball practice.

It can even include raking leaves, if a child's truly motivated!

The four classes with the most "activity minutes" win big prizes.

You can have fun tracking your team's progress on our custom tracking site. (When you register you'll see how easy it is.)

Register now (March 23rd-April 5th) to be in the contest, which begins April 6th and runs through May 22nd.

Let's spare our children from diabetes, heart disease, strokes, kidney failure and just the embarrassment of being overweight.
