CARROLLTON, Ga. (AP) -- University of West Georgia football player Willie Pitts was killed in a car crash in East Alabama. The single-vehicle accident also injured his teammate Calvin Dennis. Lee County, Ala., coroner Bill Harris said the wreck occurred Saturday night at about 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 85 south. He said the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree. The 18-year-old Dennis and his father, 58-year-old Hillary Dennis, were both listed in serious condition at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. University officials said the players were driving to Tallahassee, Fla., for spring break.
