NASSAU COUNTY, FL -- Two separate crashes within about a mile of each other closed down State Road 200 (also known as A1A) for hours Friday morning.
The first crash happened around 7 a.m. on Friday on A1A near Barnwell Road in the O'Neil area.
Chief Cooper with Nassau County Fire and Rescue says two log trucks hit a lawn service trailer.
No one was injured but there was major damage to the vehicles. Crews cleaned up a 200 gallon diesel spill, according to Cooper.
The other crashed happened just before 7:30 a.m. about 1.5 miles from the earlier crash.
Chief Cooper says an SUV and a pickup truck collided and the pickup overturned. Rescue crews had to extricate the driver. He was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
He was wearing his seat belt, and Chief Cooper says that saved him from more serious injuries.
