Trends: Bold Makeup Looks of the 1980's Return

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Bold eyes, accentuated cheeks and vibrant lips were the trademarks of the 1980's when it came to makeup.

In the year 2008 it's all about the return to 80's fever.

"I think people are taking some of the hues from the 80's," says Robin Klob, Business Manager for Lauren Mercier. "They are taking some of the techniques and kind of downplaying them."

The makeup in the decade of Cindy Lauper and Boy George was over the top. In this decade people are only incorporating part of that 80's look.

"The makeup should be reminiscent of the 80's but I think it should look a little more current," says Klob.

She says the big 80's eye shadow colors are the bold blues, purple and deep greens for the fall cosmetic lines.

"Plus metallics are all the rage," says Klob. Lauren Mercier is selling a line of metallic creme eye shadows. "The metallic eye cremes give alot of vibrancy," says Klob. They give that punch and sparkle to the eye."

Klob says if you are going to do an 80's inspired eye, then go for toned down lips and cheeks. Afterall, in 2008 there can be too much of a bold thing.
