JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A semi-truck overturned on Interstate 295 at Commonwealth Avenue closing the roadway for nearly four hours. All lanes are now open.
Lt. Bill Leeper with the Florida Highway Patrol says the semi-truck clipped another vehicle while changing lanes. Lt Leeper says the semi-truck driver then over-corrected and overturned.
The other driver tells First Coast News, he was traveling in a southbound lane when then semi-truck just came into his lane and hit his vehicle.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
The semi-truck driver was treated for minor injuries. The other driver was not hurt.
The semi was carrying a load of lumber that spilled across the roadway. Crews moved the wood to the shoulder and the median. But traffic is moving through the area without delay.
FHP troopers are hoping to re-open some of the southbound lanes by 8 a.m.
As an alternate, drivers can take Lane Avenue to Interstate 10 and then to I-295.
