JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Jacksonville Jaguars fans will be able to take East Bay Street to the pre-season game on Saturday.

The portion of E. Bay Street between Marsh and Lafeyette Streets has been closed for construction since January.

The work is not yet finished. But crews with the City of Jacksonville plan to stop working from Saturday (Aug. 9th) at noon and resume work on Monday.

Therefore drivers will be able to use E. Bay Street to get to the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium for the first preseason game of 2008. This will drastically ease congestion.

Crews will close the road again on Monday, August 11 by 7 a.m.

The city plans to do the same thing for the second Jaguars preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 16th.

The road is expected to re-open completely by early fall.

E. Bay Street has been closed while crews build a new bridge spanning Hogan's Creek.

The previous bridge structure was impeding the city's quest to improve the overall flow of the creek.

The approximately $3 million project is funding by the city's capital improvement budget.
