Details: Savage is accused of shooting to death a military police officer after boarding the USS Mahan. Savage, who had at least two prior felony convictions, was killed by a security officer during the incident.

Shooter: Aaron Alexis
Details: Alexis was identified as the assailant in a mass shooting that killed 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard. Alexis was later shot to death by police.
Location: Virginia's Quantico Marine base

Shooter: Eusebio Lopez
Details: Lopez, a tactics instructor, was identified as the shooter in an incident at a Marine base outside Washington that left two fellow Marines dead. Lopez then took his own life.
Location: Fort Hood, Texas

Shooter: Nidal Hasan
Details: Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, went on a shooting rampage that killed 13 people and left many more wounded. He was convicted in 2013 of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.

Date: Oct. 27, 1995
Shooter: William J. Kreutzer Jr.
Details: Kreutzer, an Army paratrooper, was convicted of killing an officer and wounding 18 other soldiers in a shooting spree as troops from the 82nd Airborne Division participated in morning exercises. He was sentenced to death in 1996, but that sentence was overturned on appeal. He was later sentenced to life imprisonment.
Fairchild Air Force Base
Location: Spokane, Wash.
Date: June 20, 1994
Shooter: Dean Mellberg
Details: Mellberg killed four people in a shooting that also left 23 wounded at a base hospital. He was killed by a security officer.
