HILLIARD, FL -- Two women were killed Sunday morning after a crash.

The one-car crash happened about 1:35 a.m. on County Road 108 and Orange Street.

Nassau County Fire and Rescue crews arrived to find a Ford Mustang resting on its side near a power pole.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 32-year-old Christy Peavy, from Bryceville, was driving, and 45-year-old Brenda Shackles, from Hilliard, was in the passenger seat.

The car went out of control over the right shoulder and overturned, ejecting Shackles.

Both women were pronounced dead.

The FHP says neither was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol tests on Peavy are pending.
