JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Even when it's packed with people, the Shoppes of Avondale still feels like a quiet, quaint area with its short strip of unique stores and just a few restaurants. Sunday morning it looked more like a movie backdrop with local media standing by, along with police and secret service agents waiting in the wings. At one of the area's oldest restaurants, The Fox, regulars wondered what all the hubbub was about. By the time a couple of large SUVs rolled up to the entrance, word was out -- Cindy McCain was stopping by for breakfast. She really had no time to eat; this was a short pit stop on her way to South Florida. But the time she spent Sunday morning shaking voters' hands and chatting with them about the 2008 Presidential Election, was well worth it for supporters in the right place at the right time; especially one local high school student who had hoped to someday meet her. See my stories about Cindy McCain's visit and you may be surprised by her semi-secret passions; flying planes and drift racing!
