Curry told residents in the media briefing that he will close the city for non-essential personnel Thursday and Friday.

"We need to evacuate the beaches," Curry said.

The 11 AM update from the National Hurricane Center is in and Hurricane Matthew remains on track to skirt the Florida coast, coming very close to Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Sheriff Mike Williams said at this time they have no plans to contra flow any highways ahead of the storm.

Curry advisee residents to prepare for power outages since the area will get hit with heavy rains and winds.

Mayor Curry says you won't be arrested if you refuse to evacuate. However, there won't be resources to help you if you stay.
