JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry spoke to the media Thursday morning and said the Beaches and A, B, C evacuation zones need to leave now, it is mandatory.
"I am being very clear," Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said. "If you are in Zone A or B, this is a direct order. Your life is in danger."
Yesterday, Curry only issued the evacuation notice for zones A and B, mostly low lying and riverfront areas of Jacksonville.
"To show you how serious this is, I am adding Zone C to the evacuation, due to the storm surge," Curry said. "This is a serious storm," Curry said.
Curry told residents in the media briefing that he will close the city for non-essential personnel Thursday and Friday.
"We need to evacuate the beaches," Curry said.
