Wrong-way driver killed in head-on collision

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 38-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision early Friday morning.

Leslie Kathleen Brenning of Jacksonville was driving westbound on I-10 around 2 a.m. when she crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Impala, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Brenning was driving the wrong-way minutes before the crash.

Brenning was taken to UF Shands Gainesville, where she later died.

According to the FHP report, the driver and the passengers of the Impala had only minor injuries.

Brenning and the driver of the Impala were wearing seatbelts, troopers said. An investigation is underway to determine if alcohol was a factor.
