Woman finds bag of sand in Wal-Mart crib box

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- A Walmart customer bought what she thought was a crib for her unborn grandchild.

But when she got home and opened the box, all she found was a bag of sand, she told First Coast News.

Sabrina Philpot purchased the Nursery Center Crib at Walmart on Normandy Avenue for $129.98. She was excited to give the gift to her son and daughter-in-law for their unborn child. However, when they opened the box, there was no crib, but instead, allegedly ten pounds of sand. The sand was packaged inside plastic bags and then placed in a larger cloth bag.

"Who would think that you walk into a Walmart and buy a box of sand, on the sales floor?" said Philpot.

Philpot says she feels humiliated and embarrassed, but out of the sand-snafu, she now has a new nickname.

Her friends now call her, "The Sandgifter."

First Coast News reached out to Walmart and they say it said it is investigating the incident and contacting the manufacturer. The manager at the Walmart says Philpot can return the product for a full refund or exchange with her receipt.
