UPDATE: 12-year-old Peter Bresko, Junior has been found safe in Alachua County.
"I haven't laid eye on him. I have spoken to him." Peter Bresko, Sr. told First Coast News Sunday evening "He is safe."
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office was asked by Fernandina Beach Police to check a home in Gainesville for the missing 12-year-old. They did and found him there safe in the care of a family member.
"Thank you all so much for your help," He told First Coast News reporter, David Williams, by phone Sunday evening.
Bresko Sr. says he is going to Gainesville to get his son.
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office tells First Coast News that Bresko Jr. is in the custody of authorities.
The investigation is ongoing.
UPDATE: Police in Fernandina Beach are now getting help from state and federal authorities in their search for a 12-year-old boy who went missing on Saturday morning.
The Fernandina Beach Police Department issued the following statement through the agency's Facebook page:
"No new information on the whereabouts of Peter Bresko. Local and County Law Enforcement have been working non-stop since the report was received. This morning investigators were joined by members from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Leads are being followed in various areas of Florida as well as out of State. We will certainly update if the child is located."
FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- A Florida Missing Child Alert has been issued for a 12-year-old boy who went missing in Fernandina Beach Saturday morning, authorities said.
Peter Bresko, Jr. was last seen about 10:45 a.m. at the Downtown Farmers Market, located on 7th and Centre streets, where his father is a vendor.
He left the area to use the restroom and has not been seen since, according to the Fernandina Beach Police Department.
He's 5-foot-7 and weighs about 120 pounds.
Investigators said he may be upset about having to return to his mother's home out of state.
