Two crashes back-up traffic on U.S. 1

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 1 South in St. Augustine Friday afternoon.

The crash was one of two crashes being handled by FHP that backed up traffic for miles in the area during rush hour.

Nearby, in the area of Old Moultrie Road and Ponce Harbor Drive, the driver of an SUV crashed into a electric pole. No one was injured. Utility crews responded to replace the pole. According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the road was closed for at least three hours.

In the 3100 block of US 1 a bicyclist collided with a Nissan Cube. The male bicyclist is in critical condition. According to FHP, the driver female driver has minor facial injuries. A child, who was also in the Cube, suffered minor injuries.
