Teen charged in vandalizing Chick-fil-A

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with felony vandalism in relation to a incident at Chick-fil-A, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened March 1 around 9:30 p.m., after a fight broke out in the area of Orange Park Mall when several juveniles was made to leave the property. Approximately 40-50 teens left and went to the Chic-fil-A across the street.

Deputies then received calls that there were "shots fired" outside the restaurant. When the deputies arrived they were unable to locate a gun, however, they do believe the shots were fired, but at this time it is unclear who was responsible.

The group allegedly caused major damage to the restaurant including, overturned furniture and broken glass on doors. Fortunately, none of the employees were injured.

Because of this incident, additional deputies who will have a zero-tolerance approach to this type of behavior have been assigned to the Wells Road corridor. The exact number of deputies, time-frames and tactical information will not be released.

According to CCSO, as a result of the additional manpower, related incidents and/or complaints have declined.

Additional arrests are pending and the investigation into the group is ongoing.
