Teacher of the Week: Kim Walker

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It is Wednesday so that means it is time for our Teacher of the Week. This week we are recognizing Kim Walker at Lake Asbury Junior High School in Clay County.

She teaches math and FCN got several emails from her students last week detailing how great of a teacher Mrs. Walker is.

In fact, one student said Mrs. Walker single handedly helped him raise his grade math from a D to a high B, because she took the time to really explain things and was kind to every student.

Mrs. Walker said being able to connect with our students everyday is one of the best parts of her job.

"I am inspired everyday. To see the light bulb go off in their head especially in math, it is so wonderful. One day they don't get it and then the next day that light bulb goes off and they are so excited, that's why I do it," told Mrs. Walker.

She said she likes to tell stories in her class to help make that good connection with students and be the voice of positivity in their lives.

Her advice to a new teacher is to never give up, because you may not realize how much your presence means to a student. For her fantastic teaching and positive attitude everyday, Mrs. Kim Walker at Lake Asbury Junior High is our Teacher of the Week!
