Taking a ride with the Blue Angels

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Ahead of this weekend's air show at NAS JAX, Matt Boyack had a chance to live out his childhood dream, and it's all thanks to his excellence in the classroom.

"Being Teacher of the Year for Clay County is a remarkable experience, but this is the coolest moment of it," Boyack said.

Boyack is riding because he was accepted as part of the Navy's Key Influencer Program. It rewards outstanding members of the community who have had an impact.

"It's exciting, not every day you get to do something like this," he said.

Some of Boyack's students, from his Advanced Placement History course at Orange Park High School, were on hand.

"He just teaches really well, just like a college professor," said Matthew Fetch.

"I'm very proud of him, " said Jamal Rafadi.

When his ride ended, like any good teacher, Boyack said he's looking for ways to turn his experience into teaching moments.

"I'm sure there's going to be a lot of it," he said.
