SWAT standoff ends in Palatka, suspect in custody

PALATKA, Fla. -- Putnam County SWAT used tear gas to flush a wanted man out of a Palatka home after he barricaded himself inside for hours Tueday evening.

Barry T. Milton, 39, had been on the run for six months following a warrant charging him with cocaine sale was issued, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities went to the home in the 400 block of Madison street near North 7th street to looking for Milton around 4 p.m. He surrendered just after 9:40 p.m.

No one was injured during the standoff.
