Suspect found dead after SWAT standoff

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A wanted suspect is dead after an hours-long standoff with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in the Murray Hill area Friday night.

JSO officers along with a SWAT team surrounded a residence in the 3000 block of Phyllis Street about 8 p.m. After four hours of negotiations, officers approached a door to the home about 11 p.m. That's when police said they heard a gunshot.

Police found the suspect, later identified as Eddie Miller Jr., dead inside the home. Police have not said how Miller, who was sought on felony charges, died.

Officers did not fire any shots during the standoff, police said.
