GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. -- Jury selection began Monday morning in a case that once thrust Glynn County into national news.
Guy Heinze Jr. is charged with murdering his father and seven others in a mobile home in 2009.
According to our news partners at the Florida Times-Union, more than 1,000 potential jurors have been sent summons from two Georgia counties.
Despite heavy publicity about the case, it is still expected to be tried in Glynn County Superior Court.
The jury selection process is expected to take several weeks, which is why the actual jury is not slated to begin until October 15.
Heinze Jr. has maintained his innocence and even passed a polygraph test in which he denied being the killer.
A 911 recording indicates Heinze Jr. came to the mobile home and found the individuals dead.
