INTERLACHEN, Fla. -- Detectives are trying to determine what sparked an argument that led to a fatal shooting in Interlachen Monday morning.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Rafael Gomez, 53, went to a home on Putnam Avenue and got into an altercation with the home's owner. Gomez reportedly had a weapon, although the type hasn't been identified yet.
Deputy Hancel Woods with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said the dispute ended in the homeowner shooting Gomez several times.
Neighbors say Gomez and the homeowner were related, with Gomez being the stepfather going to see his stepson.
The PCSO responded after a request for assistance from the Interlachen Police Department.
"The homeowner actually called law enforcement and told them someone there and they to come and make leave," said Woods.
Investigators are still working out the details of the shooting, and so far, no charges have been filed against either person involved.
