CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- Authorities say a man has died after being struck by a train in downtown Cartersville, northwest of Atlanta.
    
Cartersville police say the man was standing on railroad tracks when he was hit by the train Thursday night. His name wasn't immediately released.
    
Cartersville police Capt. Mark Camp tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the death occurred near Museum Drive and West Main Street.
    
Few other details were available early Friday morning.
    
Cartersville is about 40 miles northwest of Atlanta.
