DENVER -- A performance from music superstar Madonna has fans across Colorado angry.
Madonna started her show at the Pepsi Center in Denver
Thursday night with a gun scene, which she has used in previous
performances.
Thousands turned out for the concert. 9NEWS received several calls
Thursday night and Friday morning from concert-goers saying they were
offended she used guns and violence as part of her show in light of
recent events in the state.
KUSA Entertainment Reporter Kirk Montgomery spoke with Madonna's long-time publicist Liz Rosenberg on Friday. She told Kirk:
"This is Madonna expressing herself on stage as an artist. It's
ridiculous to find a connection with the tragedy that happened in
Colorado and this show. Madonna - like the rest of the world - was
horrified and felt terrible about it, but you can't take violent art off
the walls of a museum and you can't excise the third act of Hamlet -
this is art."
