JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office released the name of a pedestrian killed Saturday at the intersection of Blanding Boulevard and Confederate Point Road.

Fifty-one-year-old Brian Floran died after being hit by a car while crossing Blanding Boulevard, according to a news release from Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Shannon Hartley.

Hartley said Floridan was walking across Blanding Boulevard in an east to west direction.

A vehicle traveling northbound on Blanding Boulevard struck Floran.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department transported Floran to a local hospital where Hartley said he was pronounced deceased.

Hartley said the investigation is still ongoing.
