JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- The Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island is selling a children's book based on an original story by the center's staff.

The 44-page book, "Scute's Ocean Adventure," revolves around the center's mascot, Scute the Sea Turtle. The story follows the character as he hatches from a nest on Jekyll Island, swims out to sea and eventually returns to the center's sea turtle hospital after eating a plastic bag that he mistook for a jellyfish.

Lori Hunt, the book's illustrator, says the project too years to complete. The basic characters and story come from a puppet show that staff members perform for children visiting the Sea Turtle Center.

Jeannie Martin, a co-editor of the book, says the authors worked hard to make the story realistic and educational but also entertaining.
