JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Honors Program at the University of North Florida is holding a clothing drive for refugee children.

The clothing drive will benefit refugee families who have been forced to leave their home country because of war and persecution, according to a release from one of the event organizers.

Refugee families come from camps where they face hunger, depression and the shock of being in an unfamiliar environment, the release said.

The release said the students are specifically looking for winter clothing for little kids, mainly coats, jackets and sweaters since the winter months are approaching.

The UNF students have created boxes that can be found at two locations until November 17th:

  • Williams Athletics located at 9965 San Jose Blvd, Suite 45
  • Old Navy at the St. Johns Town Center located at 10261 River March Drive.
