Barbara Walters: Mariah 'very concerned' about Nicki

Barbara Walters is pals with Mariah Carey.

(You remember Mariah and Nick unveiled their twins to the world with the help of Barbara last year.

So The Viewmeister called the superstar singer this morning to get the lowdown about her American Idol blowup with Nicki Minaj. And shared it during today's Hot Topics segment.

Walters says Mariah told her that bothered her more than anything was "that when Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say if I had a gun I would shoot the (w)itch."

Mariah is "very concerned," reported Walters. "She doesn't fear anything would happen -- and I'm quoting -- but Nicki is unpredictable," and Maria says she "can't take a chance." She told Barbara she has beefed up her security.

Walters said there was an Idol meeting Wednesday morning and after it was over Nicki said to Mariah, "I love you, but we might fight again," and Mariah said, "No, we will not."

Nicki jumped on Twitter to respond, saying: "Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she's a black rapper. Lmao. I'll then hit up Barbara n milk it."

She continued with: "Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz.

And, "Barbara walters didn't reach out from our team barbz. I guess we're too dangerous. Don't shake if u don't wannA get shook!!!! LmAooooooooooo:

She added, "I don't call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave."
