JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- To help more animals find forever homes, the city's animal shelter is planning to stay open later.

Animal Care and Protective Services, located at 2020 Forest Street, was previously open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The following new hours will go into effect Saturday, Sept. 30:
• Adoption Hours
o Tuesday & Wednesday
10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
o Thursday & Friday
11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
o Saturday
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
• Intake Hours
o Tuesday - Friday
8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

According to a release from the city, Animal Code Enforcement Officers will continue to work seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
